The wife and I squabble (scream at each other) from time to time (almost every night) about not having enough space on the DVR. Truth be told most of the DVR memory is occupied by my stuff. These aren't the greatest shows of all time... they're just things I don't presently have on dvd or Blu Ray and I don't want to lose them. Especially if they're HD versions of the show. I often do domestic chores (vaccuming in my ill-fitting underwear) while these progams play on the TV. In no particular order here are the shows I refuse to delete from the DVR...

  • RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage: I'm not the world's biggest RUSH fan but this documentary is so damn good I can't let it go. Especially when Alex Lifeson talks about the anguish of the keyboard dominent era. Neil Peart's personal tragedy will defy your eyes to stay dry.
  • Lemmy:  a glimpse into the world of Motorhead founder/bassist/vocalist Lemmy Kilmister. If this flick had an odor it would be a foul combination of Jack Daniels, stale smoke and sweat... a beautiful, intoxicating scent.
  • John Entwistle & The Who:  I respect The Who but to be honest I dislike more of their songs than I like. That aside this is the story of a guy who lived the way I expect rock stars to live... and sadly because of it, lives no longer. Long live the Ox.
  • The Road:  Call me a wuss but this movie makes me cry. The day I saw this I walked out of the theater, got in the car and heard of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Double downer. That feeling of gloom and doom pervades everytime I watch this flick. I read the book shortly after. It reads like poetry and made me cry again. Wuss! Plus my neighbor borrowed my DVD and never gave it back.
  • Foo Fighters: Back & Forth: Another killer roc doc. Dave Grohl is thee most talented human being on the planet. Nuff said.
  • Foo Fighters: Live At Wembley: My bromance with Grohl continues and the jam with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones is worth waiting for.
  • Megadeth: Blood In The Water: No Dave Ellefson on bass but still a smoking concert performance by Mustaine and his hired guns. A favorite to play while vacuuming in my mishapen boxer briefs.
  • Dead Set:  Recorded this off IFC last Halloween. British mini-series about the cast of a reality TV show stuck in an apartment unaware that the zombie apocolypse has begun. Five, 30 minute shows that are somewhat rare to find.
  • Rolling Stones At The Max: Stones concert shot for IMax screens back in the late 80's or early 90's. First time I saw the Stones live was close to this era so it's a keeper. And backup vocalist Lisa Fisher looks delicious.
  • Joe Bonamassa Live From Royal Albert Hall:  Modern day blues legend rips it up from this historic venue. The "Just Got Paid" jam/medley is audio viagra for me. Not that I need Viagra... just sayin' it gives me a boner, ok?
