Well I've covered psychos, zombies and vampires so it's time to get into the devil and satanic stuff... but only in movie form... hardcore demon worshippers please do not feel that this is an invitation to make contact. Today's focus is on 'The House Of The Devil' which was released right before Halloween 2009. We've got a sweet, innocent girl who makes the mistake of taking a babysitting job. After that pizza arrives things don't go well.
The big knock on this film is that it's slow and it takes forever for stuff to happen. That's somewhat true. It's called character development. This is not a scare a minute flick and it does have some plot holes but it does build to a pretty frothy conclusion. Everytime I hear the Fixx's 'One Thing Leads to Another' I think of this movie and the horrible fate that awaits this girl... and I smile just a little bit. Both Tom Noonan and Mary Woronov are deliciously creepy as the parents in need of a sitter for the evening. They have 'plans' that involve that evening's lunar eclipse. Ready the pentagram. And wouldn't ya know it... the door is left wide open for a sequel. Watch the featurette below and decide if you can handle 'The House Of The Devil.'
