Oh for the love of God! We need to stop being so over the top safe about everything.
The Environmental Science and Technology journal just put out a report on couches. They took the time to study them and discuss what is in the upholstery, mainly the flame retardant chemicals, and tell us why couches are so bad for us. That the chemicals COULD be toxic and cause problems.
However, further down in the article they say, "There is no data in this study that indicates that the levels of flame retardants found would cause any human health problems."
SO WHY PUT OUT THE STUDY IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!?!
I swear that experimental scientists and doctors have so much free time that they come up with these ideas and try to scare the hell out of the public. STOP DOING IT! I've sat on a lot of couches in my time, I've invested hours and hours of the finest napping on sofas and recliners and loveseats, all different sorts of furniture, and I am just fine. So are you! So is everyone. Couches will not damage our future, I promise.
Well maybe not bean bag chairs. I've seen the product of those: dirty hippies. Avoid them.
